Beauty sells. Social media is full of carefully curated images creating "insta famous" users overnight. These "influencers" promote products and also sell young girls, teens and women on earning quick money through beauty. What can we do to make brains just as appealing? How do we instruct girls that they are more than their appearances?
Social media platforms rise in popularity while education in the United States weakens, scoring average grades in science and reading and below average in math.
We talk about all this plus Chris Rock's classic joke to keep his daughters "off the pole", the Netflix series from Spike Lee, "She's Gotta Have It," why I worry about my two nieces and what would my life be if Instagram was around when I was a teenager.
