My guest is millennial entrepreneur, Derrius Quarles. Born and bred on the south-side of Chicago, Derrius lived through 13 years of foster care after losing his father to violence and being separated from his mother to become a first-generation cum laude graduate of Morehouse College, securing over $1 Million in scholarships before leaving high school.
Derrius is a serial entrepreneur, web designer, keynote speaker, and author. His first book, Million Dollar Scholar: Winning The Scholarship Race has helped thousands of students find ways to make higher education more affordable through scholarships and grants. His latest venture, Breaux Capital is the the first fintech company advancing the financial health of Black Millennials with social banking – a combination of software and community.
We discuss his early memories growing up, what he relied on for consistency in the midst of change, manifesting a goal, his experiences with racism as an entrepreneur and much more.
